Would you please take out a dollar bill and look at the Great Seal for me? You can find the seal on the back of any dollar bill. It’s the pyramid looking seal. Actually it is a two-sided seal, but we will just consider the backside. The Bible tells us that over a land the Lord your God cares for, His eyes, “are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end” (Deut. 11:12).
Have you ever noticed the seemingly different accounts of the number of angels present at the resurrection of Jesus? Matthew and Mark have one angel present, who is dressed in white (Matt. 28:2; Mk. 16:5). Luke and John have two men in white clothes that gleamed like lightning (Luke 24:4; John 20:12). According to Matthew the angel sat on the tomb stone. Mark records that an angel sat inside the tomb on the right side. Luke has two angels standing next to the women. John says two were seated one at the head and the other at the foot where Jesus would have laid in the tomb. It can be confusing!
At our last circuit meeting, where local LCMS pastors come together, a question was proposed, “Is there such a thing as a ‘seeker’ in church on any given Sunday Morning?” Some said “No”, others said “Yes!” This is a very important question for us to consider as we serve God.
