I am very excited about my new Bible study featuring Dr. Paul L. Maier called “How We Got the Bible.” This study is a video supported series where we, via modern technology, will be able to see Dr. Maier first-hand and walk with him as we travel down biblical lane.

The story of the Bible is called by many, “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Take a look at the lessons that we will see and discuss:

Lesson 1: The World’s Most Important Book
Lesson 2: Can We Be Confident in the Bible?
Lesson 3: Silencing the Old Testament Critics
Lesson 4: Did the Church Make Jesus Divine?
Lesson 5: The High Price of an English Bible

Dr. Paul L. Maier is a professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University and second vice-president of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. I have had the opportunity to meet and talk to Dr. Maier on numerous occasions. I find him to be incredibly interesting. Ruth Kruse said that when she met Dr. Maier, she was in awe and found him to be amazingly smart. He is the author of many books that have been on my Pastor’s Book Choice shelf which is found near Sandra’s office. I would like to encourage all members of Our Savior Lutheran who are not presently in an Adult Bible Study on Sunday morning to consider this new study. Together, we will learn the meaning of such words as codex, papyrus, parchment, Septuagint, and vulgate.

Plan now to attend each and every Sunday in the month of October where you will learn, “How We Got the Bible.”

In His Story,
Pastor Dreier
